Pesca Recognized at the Renewable Energy Gala
On June 10, Nergica's Renewable Energy Gala brought together the people driving Quebec's energy transition in Carleton-sur-Mer. For Pesca, it turned into a doubly memorable evening.
Marjolaine Castonguay, Pesca's president and founder, received the Industry Builder award. The honour recognizes more than 35 years spent building environmental expertise in support of renewable energy projects, going all the way back to the very first wind farms in the Gaspé. In her acceptance speech, she gave the title a personal reading: "In the word builder (batisseuse in French), what I hear first is weaver (tisseuse in French). I am a weaver of bonds, bonds of trust with the people I meet, with our clients, with the communities."
Simon Haché, a forestry engineer and biologist at Pesca, was named Rising Star, an award that shines a light on the next generation already shaping the sector's future.
Marjolaine Castonguay also spoke to the deeper meaning of this industry, closing with a line that captures the Pesca outlook well: "Let's all keep in mind, and in our hearts, that the footprint these projects occupy is borrowed from the land."
Both recipients shared their reflections with Pénélope Garon on CIEU FM. A fine showcase for the talent of the Baie-des-Chaleurs, and for everyone building a transition that respects ecosystems and communities here at home.
